Dolánky near Turnov – A Popular Trip Destination

Dolánky is one of the 13 administrative parts of the town of Turnov. It is located at the foot of the Oběšenec Hill and serves as a symbolic "gateway" to the Central Jizera River Basin. Dolánky is also one of the access points to the Greenway Jizera cycling trail.

Folk Architecture in Dolánky

The most well-known building in Dolánky is the Dlaskův statek – a typical example of late 18th-century folk architecture in the Turnov region. The farmhouse hosts a permanent exhibition dedicated to traditional agriculture in the Jizera region. During the summer holidays, the site also holds Craft Saturdays at Dlask’s Farmstead, a popular cultural and educational event.

Next to the farmstead stands a granary, which was relocated in the 20th century from nearby Malý Rohozec to prevent its destruction. Not far from the Dlask Farmstead is the newly restored Abelův mlýn, which has been transformed from near ruin into a cozy restaurant offering regional Czech cuisine.

Swimming in the Jizera River

Dolánky is a favorite spot for locals and tourists alike, mainly due to the opportunity for natural river swimming. Until the late 20th century, people swam here in the pools of the former municipal swimming area. Today, what remains is a grassy area with a small children's pool and a modest playground with metal climbing frames.

Visitors now enjoy natural swimming in the Jizera River, especially around the Dolánky weir. The sunny meadows and riverbanks offer a relaxing place to spend a summer day. The area above the weir is best suited for experienced swimmers, and it's also a designated spot for taking out boats after paddling from Malá Skála.
